More than a library: a living public space
The Benedito Bentes Library Park was inspired by Medellín's experiences connecting architecture, education, and public policy to transform communities. In Benedito Bentes, the idea becomes a meeting point for children, young people, families, educators, and the wider community.
Coordinated by Rede Areté in partnership with the Maceió Municipal Department of Education and Brazil's Ministry of Culture, the Park brings reading, art, movement, bilingual learning, and the digital world together through a community-based approach to integral education.
When the community participates, the space gains meaning
Social urbanism creates public facilities that do more than occupy an address: they broaden the right to the city. The Library Park fosters belonging, citizenship, community life, and a culture of peace by making knowledge, culture, and care part of everyday life.
Architecture shapes the experience, but the relationships formed inside and around it are what make the Park truly alive.

Technology serving people
For Somai EdTech, being present at the Benedito Bentes Library Park reinforces a core belief: technology only makes sense when it helps people learn, create, engage in dialogue, and see new possibilities.
At the Park, Somai implemented educational robotics with the NAO humanoid robot and LEGO Education kits, and trained the venue’s professionals to use these technologies in their daily work — ensuring the project stays alive in the hands of those who educate.
For years, we have worked with robotics, Maker culture, and STEAM in schools, public education systems, and institutions across Brazil. At the Park, that experience connects with a broader vision of education, culture, and community transformation — respecting the local context and valuing educators, workshop leaders, and residents.
